Cassidy & Justin

Half of the fun of being a photographer is meeting new people! Last month I decided to run a contest giveaway for a complimentary mini session! Rather than picking only one winner, I decided to pull THREE. Cassidy was one of the three lucky winners and I'm SO glad we got to meet! :)
When I reached out to Cassidy, she knew just the type of shoot she wanted to do! Her and her fiancé, Justin, are getting married this November, so an engagement session was only appropriate!
Cassidy messaged me telling me she had found the perfect location at Kalmia Gardens. Being newer to the area, I haven't ventured out TOO far and didn't know much about it, but she was absolutely right! It turned out being the perfect backdrop for their session!
Rumor has it that Justin doesn't usually smile for pictures, but understandably it was irresistible for him not to smile with his beautiful fiancé by his side! ;)
Justin and Cassidy both mentioned how they love being outside and enjoy outdoorsy activities, such as hunting. They were walking a few steps ahead of me, while I trailed behind scouting out an area for the perfect ring shot. Next thing I know, RIGHT next to them is a SNAKE... slithering off the walkway into the woods. I may have briefly disrupted the tranquility of the gardens with my small panic attack. Once they realized what my episode was in regards to, Cassidy causally looked to Justin and asked, "What kind of snake do you think it was? I don't think it was poisonous!" Justin agreed and they kept on walking. Y'all...I'm not super outdoorsy. I only know of a few types of snakes and I'm not even sure that I could properly identify them if my life depended on it. But... I know a LIVE snake when I see one! If only I knew how to maintain composure with one around! ;) They sure are braver than me! Haha!
Just when I thought we were "out of the woods", Cassidy mentioned there was one place in particular at Kalmia where she really wanted to take some pictures. We checked out the map to see where it was located. All I can say is, thank God they're better at directions than I am! We started walking even down a trail and you guys- I'm gonna be honest- I didn't even know this was a marked path on the map!
We took a few twists and turns, and even stopped to snap a picture on the railing of a small boardwalk.
After a couple steps more, we arrived at the very dock that Cassidy was searching for... and can I just say... it was SO worth it!
This spot was nothing short of the perfect spot for their last few photos of the night!
Justin and Cassidy, thank you so much for letting me document these sweet moments leading up to you tying the knot and becoming husband and wife! It truly means a lot to me and I'm honored to know that these photos will decorate the walls of your new home you will build together!
